Facilities at LITEGenotyping lab for colony characterisation

Our insecticide resistance data is supported by rigorous quality control on our mosquito colonies.

We rear multiple strains of mosquitoes, both susceptible and resistant to insecticides:

  • Resistant colonies are challenged with insecticide on a regular basis and the resistance profile of each colony is determined for different insecticides using WHO diagnostic dose assays and LD50 determination.
  • Genotyping of laboratory colonies is performed on a regular basis for quality control and to monitor for any changes in the frequency of resistant alleles in the populations.
